Hoofddorp, The Netherlands (May 12, 2009) –-- JLG Europe BV, an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE: OSK] and a leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announces today it will participate in the Health & Safety Expo in Birmingham, UK, May 12-14. JLG® machines on display at Stand J41 will include a one-person stockpicker and a vertical mast product. These machines are designed specifically to assist in working in lower height applications. Additionally, JLG will focus on safely working with access equipment by promoting its extensive package of operator training courses, providing advice and highlighting the consequences of working unsafely at height.
“Aerial work platforms can significantly reduce the risk involved in working at height, and JLG equipment is designed to protect the operator as well as provide a comfortable working environment,” said Simon Cracknell, JLG senior director Sales & Customer Support Northern Europe and managing director of JLG UK. “There are many benefits of using a purpose-built piece of access equipment above other methods such as ladders, steps or forklifts with cages. For example, the harness and basket help prevent the operator from falling while performing daily duties and hands and fingers are provided with additional protection as the machine controls are placed inside the basket. The switches are conveniently placed and comfortable to use, even when wearing gloves.”
Improved steering, direct electric drive and a zero-turning radius further enhance on-site safety. Both the JLG stockpickers and the JLG vertical mast products can be driven at full height and are equipped with a pothole protection system that will provide additional support in the unlikely event that a wheel enters an uneven area in the floor.
JLG stockpickers and vertical mast products deliver industry leading duty cycles, are easy to maintain and ideal for use in restricted space. Working heights vary from 5.05m to 6.69m for stockpickers to 6.71m to 7.98m for vertical mast products. There is a variety of platform options available to configure the machine to a specific work environment and purpose.
JLG Europe BV offers a wide range of access platforms to the industrial market. From the facility in Middleton, Greater Manchester, the JLG UK operation provides an array of pre- and post-sale customer support services, including: site surveys, product demonstrations, machine repair and a range of training and servicing courses. |
